After nearly two decades at the center of Paris' natural wine movement, Clovis Ochin turned from championing wine to making it himself. As the founder of Yard, a cult restaurant and benchmark for modern French gastronomy, and Culinaries, a pioneering natural wine and organic food distribution company, Clovis helped shape the way a generation of drinkers discovered artisan wine. His journey began in 2005 when he wandered into a small wine shop in Paris' 11th arrondissement and emerged hours later captivated by the world of natural wine.
Today, Clovis is based in Catalunya, where he crafts wines inspired by the region's historic vineyards and low intervention traditions. Working from the cellar of friends and mentors Massimo Marchiori and Antonella Gerona of Partida Creus, he sources old vine Bobal from Utiel-Requena along with Xarel-lo and Macabeo from vineyards approaching 80 years of age in Penedès. Across the entire range, the philosophy is simple and consistent: whole cluster fermentation, seven days of maceration, élevage in glass dame-jeannes, and weekly topping with reserve juice. No sulfur, fining, or filtration is used, and all wines are bottled at 12% alcohol or less. The first wines were released in 2022 and quickly established Clovis as one of the most exciting new voices in Spanish natural wine.
