This pure Nerello Mascalese is a blend from Frank's 3 highest vineyards (Vigne Alte): Tartaraci, Rampante soprana, Barbabecchi. It expresses beautifully the value and precision of the old vines, ungrafted Nerello Mascalese on the high terraces in the Northern valley of Mount Etna. The most Burgundian of all his crus.

Location: Bronte (Tartaraci Vineyard at 1,000 meters); Solicchiata (Barbabecchi Vineyard at 910 meters and Rampante soprana at 870 meters)
Average Vine Age: 90+ years
Vinification: Destemming and light crushing of the grapes. Fermentation starts with a “pied-de-cuve” using only indigenous yeasts and skin contact for about 60 days.
Aging: In neutral epoxy tanks from 1,500 liters to 2,500 liters for 18 months.
Fining: No
Filtering: Before bottling with PP cartridges of 5 micron
Sulfites: Values can vary from 15 to 50 mg/l., added or not, depending on the quality of grapes and stability of the wine.
