Vineyard Notes: These vines were planted in 2003, and the wine is called Le Jardin because this parcel used to be the garden of Henri’s mother. Planted in a parcel with 100% Blue clay, Henri planted Merlot there because it’s the same soil type as the right bank of Bordeaux, which makes it a great fit. Clay absorbs water like a sponge, so it provides great humidity, which Merlot needs to thrive.

Winemaking Notes: Whole cluster macerated for three days in concrete tank. The grapes are then pressed, fermented and the wine rests in tank for a couple months before being moved to 500 litre oak barrels for one year, of which 50% is new.

Tasting Notes: 2017 was one of the best vintage in the last ten years. It was very hot and dry, which is great for Merlot, so the tannins are massive yet velvety. Le Jardin is a wine that combines finess and concentration and you'll find notes of black fruits and truffle.
