Vinos Pijoan is a small, family-owned winery dedicated to creating what Pau Pijoan, the founder and winemaker, likes to call “honest and upstanding” wines. In every wine Vinos Pijoan produces, they have set out to express the body as well as the elegance of the terroir of the wine-producing valleys of Baja California.
In 2002, the family purchased a small 5 acre estate in Valle de Guadalupe and planted Merlot, Syrah and, more recently, Grenache, Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscatel. In 2007, they finished the first phase of construction of the more formal warehouse under which production, aging and bottling can be consolidated. Current production is around 2500 cases (30,000 bottles) and does not expect to grow in the immediate future. In 2010, Vinos Pijoan built the second phase of their winery with a warehouse for fermentation and, in 2013, managed to complete their long sought after underground cava where they warehouse 100 barrels at a constant temperatrure of 18 to 19 degrees Centigrade (~65 degrees Fahrenheit).
