Vineyard Notes: Sourced 100% from the Powerline Estate Vineyard. Charles planted the 38-acre estate vineyard in the heart of the Walla Walla Valley in the foothills of the Blue Mountains. The soils are well-drained with cobblestone river rocks and underlying layers of sand and gravel deposits, allowing vines to develop very deep and strong roots. The cobblestone rock was brought down river from the Blue Mountains and deposited on top of the ancient river bed. The deep sand and silt below the stones bring a great purity to the grapes, while high elevations keep acids high and alcohol low, producing very well-balanced wines with remarkable complex characters

Farming Notes: All vineyards are sustainably farmed, following organic principles. Zero pesticides, zero herbicides and zero adjuncts are used. Harvest is manual.

Winemaking Notes: 2.4 tons per acre.100% whole cluster fermentation with native yeast, 33 days on skins. All grapes co-fermented. 28 months aged on lees in 100% neutral French oak demi-muids. 2.2 tons per acre. Bottled from gross lees, unfined and unfiltered. Vegan friendly.

Tasting Notes: Beautiful, vibrant, bright, and energetic. Impresses immediately. Wild strawberry, black cherry, and red plum followed by incredible floral notes of white flowers, violets, and lavender, rushing forward into orange peel, black pepper, and crushed rock. Elegant yet resourceful, bold, and brilliant. Blackberry, clove, cured meats, and sea breeze. Both wonderful and intriguing!

The 2019 Charlotte is minty fresh from the first tilt of the glass, with spicy florals and crushed black cherries forming its bouquet. It's soft textured, and round on the palate with a stimulating core of acidity and tart red and black fruits that add tension toward the close. This tapers off perfumed, with decent length, leaving a coating of gently grippy tannins to frame the experience quite nicely.

The translucent ruby-hued 2019 Charlotte is another rocking wine in the lineup. Based on 47% Mourvèdre, 26% Grenache, and the rest a mix of red and white varieties, it reveals spicy, complex notes of cherry, ripe strawberries, leather, sandalwood, and white pepper, followed by a medium to full-bodied, supple, elegant, seamless wine. Very pretty, pure and polished, with fine tannins, this silky beauty is balanced and delicious.
