Founded in 1992 by Martín Alonso and Gloria Plaza Medina, Viña Ilusión is located on the slopes of the Isasa Mountains in Rioja Oriental’s Cidacos Valley. Sitting at elevations between 600 and 700 meters, the estate benefits from a unique microclimate that combines Mediterranean warmth with mountain influences, allowing vineyards to thrive alongside olive and almond trees.

From the beginning, Martín and Gloria embraced organic farming, earning certification from ECYSSA and maintaining it ever since. Their approach draws inspiration from a range of agricultural philosophies, including Masanobu Fukuoka’s principles of natural farming and the biodynamic theories of Rudolf Steiner and Jean-Marie Roger. Through these influences and more than two decades of hands-on experience, they have developed a farming philosophy focused on regenerating soils, enhancing biodiversity, and cultivating healthy vines in balance with their environment.

Today, Viña Ilusión farms 20 small vineyard parcels across 15 hectares, producing wines that reflect the distinctive character of the Cidacos Valley and the estate’s longstanding commitment to thoughtful, sustainable viticulture.
