Asnella 2024 Vinho Verde DOC (VR) Login In Stock

Asnella is a single vineyard Vinho Verde that reveals a side of the region rarely seen in export markets. While much of Vinho Verde is known for its fresh, lightly effervescent, easy-drinking whites, Asnella represents a more serious, terroir-driven expression that is structured, mineral, and built with depth.

The vineyard lies on the border between the southern edge of Vinho Verde and the northern boundary of the Douro Valley, a liminal zone where geology defines character. The site straddles a natural fault line dividing two distinct soil types – granite and schist.

Granite contributes lends richness and weight. Schist, more commonly associated with the Douro, imparts tension, minerality, and precision. The blending of fruit from both soil types creates a wine of uncommon weight and structure for Vinho Verde, layered, textural, and driven by a pronounced stony backbone.

The Label: The Manual Wine Press
Asnella’s icon pays tribute to the traditional manual wine press, one of the oldest tools of organized winemaking dating back to Roman times. Still used by many artisanal producers today, the manual press symbolizes purity, craftsmanship, and a hands-on approach to vinification. It reflects Asnella’s commitment to authenticity and to expressing the essence of its singular vineyard site.
