Vineyard Notes: Grapes for the Zorzal Terroir Unico Pinot Noir are sourced from a single vineyard in the Gualtallary region of the Tupungato Valley. The vineyard is located at 4,264 feet above sea level and was planted in 2007. It is comprised of sand, chalk and stones.

Winemaking Notes: Grapes are manually harvested. The winery is renowned for having state-of-the-art technology in crushing, fermentation and aging. The winery was designed on four levels in order to transport the grapes and wines by gravity without the use of pumps. Malolactic fermentation occurs, and the wine is aged in bottle for 5 months. This wine does not see any oak; this is done to let the fruit-driven quality of the wine shine. Only indigenous yeast are used.

Tasting Notes: Bright red fruits, predominantly raspberry, jump out of the glass with gamey notes, cola, dried leaves, and forest floor. The mouthfeel is rich, soft, and supple with light tannins and medium acidity. The chalky soil comes through in the long finish. This is great with or without food.

This shows red fruit alongside a bright, herbal note. The palate is medium- to full-bodied with tightly delineated fruit and supple tannins. Approachable, balanced and easy to enjoy.

This great Terroir Pinot Noir comes from vineyards in the Gualtallary area, in the north of the Uco Valley, on sandy calcareous soils. And for at least five vintages, it seems to us to be one of the best values for money for this variety in South America. There are good pinots in the region but, as everywhere else in the world, they are expensive. This one offers a fruity and juicy vision of the variety, with firm texture for charcuterie, and refreshing red-fruit flavors.
