Introducing Rossa Amara

Owners and distillers Giuseppe Librizzi and Edoardo Strano are simply guys with a lot of enthusiasm and love for their home island of Sicily. Rossa Amara was born in 2013 from their passionate idea to give value to the blood orange trees farmed for generations on the volcanic slopes of Mount Etna. Rossa is the name of the league of agricultural gentlemen who grow blood oranges. Amara is Librizzi and Strano’s take on an honest Sicilian amaro.

Rossa Amara is produced in small quantities and is free of any and all unnatural additives or preservatives. The blood orange variety, Tarocco, from Mount Etna is picked by hand, carefully peeled and extracted. Then, it is blended with special bitter herbs and sugar. The result is an intensely flavored, delightful and citrus-dominated liqueur. As its name suggests, Amara brings femininity and softness to the amaro category. The bitter and spice notes of the herbal infusion are balanced with the blood orange fragrances, highlighting the quality and strength of the oranges used. The taste is persistent and leaves the palate with a sweet and bitter combination (candied oranges, licorice, cloves, rhubarb, black elder) and a lingering aroma of pure citrus. The Amara has a versatility to be both an apéritif and a digestif. Add soda or tonic water to make it a spritz, simply pour it over ice, or mix it into a Negroni and other cocktails. No matter how you drink it, you’re going to love it.
