Matchvino is a national importing company dedicated exclusively to Italian wines. With a singular focus on authenticity, Matchvino sources and imports wines that speak clearly of their origin, bottles that capture the lands from which they are grown and the people who farm them.
These are wines with soul. Wines made first and foremost in the vineyard. Wines that are true to their varieties while communicating the personalities of the vignerons behind them.
Matchvino partners with wineries that share a deep alignment in values: safeguarding the environment, respecting self and others, and protecting the welfare of animals. Each producer may follow a different personal path to vine growing and winemaking, but they are united by a common thread, a commitment to crafting wines that are honest, expressive, and rooted in place.
The People Behind Matchvino
Importing fine Italian wines has been the life’s work of Francois Dufour. For more than 30 years, he has introduced some of Italy’s most compelling wines to the U.S. market. If you have a favorite Italian producer stateside, there is a good chance Francois helped bring it here, though he would never boast. Known for his charm and good cheer, he is a quiet pioneer in the field.
Francois divides his time between the Swiss Alps and a historic seafaring town on the North Shore of Massachusetts. An adventurous spirit and freedom lover, he enjoys riding his bike, searching for the best lobster roll on the East Coast, and hiking with his very large dog Brando and his cuddly pup Bear, with his wife Stacey often trailing a few paces behind.
Stacey Ristuccia Dufour joined Matchvino in the spring of 2013. Together, Stacey, Francois, and Francois’s son Matteo run the company with a shared purpose, bringing fine, small, artisanal Italian wines to the everyday consumer thoughtfully, honestly, and with heart.
