Located in the Grand Cru village of Verzy in the Montagne de Reims, Sébastien Mouzon is a 9th-generation grower whose family roots date back to 1776. Farming 8.5 hectares across roughly 60 parcels, he has spent the last decade reshaping the estate around a deeply thoughtful, site-driven philosophy.
Certified biodynamic (Demeter) since 2019, Mouzon is also one of Champagne’s leading voices in agroforestrys, specifically “vitiforestry”, integrating thousands of trees, aromatic plants, and animals like chickens and sheep into the vineyards to build a more balanced ecosystem. His work is grounded in Verzy’s distinctive silex-rich, calcareous soils and cool northeastern exposures, which give the wines their tension, mineral drive, and precision.
The vineyards are planted predominantly to Pinot Noir (about 60%) and Chardonnay (35%), with a small but meaningful presence of heritage varieties. In the cellar, Mouzon works with a low-intervention approach including native fermentations, minimal sulfur, and little to no dosage, which allows each parcel to express itself clearly.
The result is a focused, mineral driven style that reflects both the uniqueness of Verzy and Mouzon’s commitment to farming with intention.
