La Boussole 2021 'Sud' Pinot Noir, Baden	Login	—	In Stock

La Boussole is the project of French winemaker Maxence Lecat, built around working with German vineyards and varieties that he knows from his experience in France, Oregon and Germany. Maxence came to Germany after working with 00 Wines in Oregon and later joined Enderle & Moll, where he met growers in Kippenheim and began working with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The first La Boussole wines were made in 2021, with NORD, a Chardonnay, and SUD, a Pinot Noir. The names refer to the two essential directions on a compass.

The wines come from sites in Baden and the Pfalz, including Chardonnay from Kippenheim and Osterberg, and Pinot Noir from the limestone Frostberg site in Münchweier. Maxence works with organically farmed vineyards and a low intervention approach in the cellar, with techniques informed by his work with Enderle & Moll and his experience in Burgundy and Champagne. The project remains small, with each wine tied to a specific vineyard and variety.
