Maxico Mistico is a collection of handcrafted Mexican liqueurs inspired by the country's rich tradition of herbal medicine, mysticism, and shamanic culture. Drawing from centuries-old European liqueur recipes while embracing Mexico's extraordinary biodiversity, each expression is crafted with native botanicals and distinctive local ingredients to create complex, aromatic spirits that are unmistakably Mexican.

The project reinterprets classic Old World herbal liqueurs through a Mexican lens. Produced using prolonged botanical infusions, individual herb extractions, and carefully layered macerations, the liqueurs honor traditional methods while showcasing the remarkable flavors and aromas of Mexico's diverse flora. Whether inspired by the restorative purpose of 19th-century fernet or other historic herbal recipes, every bottle reflects the belief that plants possess the power to nourish both body and spirit.

Maxico Mistico was founded by two longtime collaborators, Esteban Morales and Samuel Ruiz, whose complementary backgrounds bring together culinary creativity and scientific precision. After years researching Mexican spirits and traditional ingredients throughout the country, Morales established Antithesis Distillery in Guadalajara as an experimental laboratory dedicated to small batch agave spirits, rum, gin, fruit brandies, and liqueurs. The distillery serves as a space to explore fermentation, distillation, and botanical extraction while celebrating Mexico's agricultural heritage.

Ruiz, a chemical engineer and CEO of Casa Endémica, joined the project as a partner. Holding a master's degree in forestry sciences, he contributes a deep understanding of native plants, herbs, and their chemical composition. Together, Morales and Ruiz combine their expertise to create a collection of five distinctive liqueurs that celebrate Mexico's maximalist culinary traditions and longstanding cultural belief in the healing and spiritual qualities of its native botanicals.
