Sangre de Toro is a globally recognized Spanish wine brand established in 1954 by Familia Torres, one of Spain’s leading wine producing families. The iconic bull on the Sangre de Toro label has become a global symbol of Spanish wine. Today, it is the official sponsor of the national Spain soccer team, which just won the European Cup in July 2024.

Owned and operated by the fifth generation of the Torres family, Bodegas Torres was founded in 1870 and remains one of the most internationally respected names in Spanish winemaking. Sangre de Toro is a flagship label within the Torres portfolio, representing a high-volume, value-driven tier. It ranks among the top ten most sold Spanish wines, with over 10 million bottles sold annually in more than 100 countries.

Sangre de Toro is traditionally a Mediterranean blend of Garnacha and Cariñena, with fruit sourced from Torres’ 2,000 hectares of estate vineyards as well as long-term grower partners across Catalunya. These long-established grower contracts allow Torres to oversee and implement specific viticultural practices that prioritize sustainability and ensure vintage consistency.

Familia Torres is widely regarded as an industry leader in environmental stewardship. The winery employs certified organic, sustainable, and regenerative farming practices, including initiatives to improve soil health, increase biodiversity, and reduce carbon emissions. Select vineyards have been farmed using regenerative methods since 2020. The family reinvests the majority of its profits into research, innovation, and climate action—including carbon capture, renewable energy, and the recovery of ancestral grape varieties. The winery is a founding member and gold-level partner of the International Wineries for Climate Action (IWCA). In recognition of his leadership, Miguel Torres was named one of TIME Magazine’s Top 100 Most Influential People in Climate Action.
