Vineyard Notes: The vines face west overlooking West Grand Traverse Bay. 2.5 acres of Pinot Gris were planted in the years 2003 and 2010. Gary and Theresa Wilson are the growers.
Winemaking Notes: Skin contact for 6 hours. Whole cluster pressed. Fermented in 228-liter neutral French oak with native yeast, no SO2. No racking. It aged for 8 months in 228-liter Francois Freres LT 4th use barrels. No racking. Battonage twice a week for 2 months. Unfined. Unfiltered.
Winemaker Notes: "Texture dominates this wine. Unlike the Old Shore bottlings where 5-10% botrytis is encouraged, these grapes came in absolutely CLEAN after a long, hot and dry vintage up north. High intensity results from significant mannoprotein development. It's like Alto Adige and Alsace had a baby." - Maxx
Tasting Notes: A crisp and fruit forward Pinot Gris that gives tons of acid and tannin structure on the palate. Bright citrus flavors integrate perfectly with a crisp acidity and long, lees driven length.
