Vineyard Notes: This fruit is 100% Pinot Gris from Brigadoon Vineyard on Leelanau Peninsula. This westerly facing site allows Pinot Gris to thrive, capturing the fruit’s ripe character without excessive sugar levels. The fruit is harvested early in the season, preserving its natural acidity.
Cellar Notes: The challenge with skin fermented Pinot Gris is balancing the beauty of the fruit with the need for structure. This wine spent just 15 days in contact with its skins giving it a stunning amber color and gentle tannins that add depth and elegance. Wild yeast fermentation and 7 months on lees in a combination of stainless steel and neutral oak barrels enhance the wine’s complexity and texture.
