Farming Notes: Meinklang's herd of Angus cows populate the landscape of picturesque Lake Neusiedl, which straddles the Austrian-Hungarian border. Cows are the key element in biodynamic farming and complete the ecological circle. They are the source of nutritious fertilizer for all of Meinklang's vineyards. Lively soil and harmonious vine metabolism are a central focus for the Michlits family.
Winemaking Notes: The Michlits family does not green harvest. Instead, they do an early pass through all of their red vines and pick various clusters for the Meinklang Prosa Sparkling Rosé. The grapes are primarily Pinot Noir supplemented by Zweigelt and Blaufränkisch. This sparkling is produced via the Charmat method. The grapes are gently pressed and see a short maceration. Fermentation is spontaneous with native yeast. It is not fined before bottling.
Tasting Notes: The Meinklang Prosa Sparkling Rosé is a playful and refreshing sparkling wine. The tannins are light, and the wine is delightfully zesty with lots of berry fruit flavors. It is a win that wins you over with floral aromatics, juicy red strawberries, and a vibrant, refreshing lift. It is a perfect wine for picnics, barbecues, friendly gatherings, morning breakfast, etc.
