Since 1933, Shinpyeong Brewery has been producing traditional Korean sool using locally grown rice and lotus leaves. Brewing with lotus leaves has a long history in Korea, with the practice becoming particularly widespread during the Joseon Dynasty in the 17th and 18th centuries. Second-generation owner Yong-se Kim was officially recognized by the Korean government as the 79th Korean Food Grand Master for preserving his family’s traditional lotus leaf makgeolli recipe.

Passed down through 3 generations, White Lotus Makgeolli is a signature expression of Shinpyeong Brewery. Roasted lotus leaves are added during fermentation, imparting a subtle floral fragrance and delicate nuttiness to the finished sool. Smooth, clean, and refreshing, the palate balances gentle sweetness with bright acidity, while the distinctive aroma of roasted lotus leaf lingers on the finish.
