"Massimo Marchiori and Antonella Gerosa, the proprietors of Partida Creus, are originally from Italy but settled in Catalonia, about an hour southwest of Barcelona. They make wines largely from little-known indigenous varieties. This red wine, made with Bobal, is a bit of an oddity in that Bobal is more typically found down the Mediterranean coast in Valencia. In their hands the wine is fresh and pure, full of energy and tasting deeply of spices, herbs and red fruits."

BB = Bobal Bobal is the most popular Spanish grape you've never heard of; despite it's relative obscurity, it trails Tempranillo and Airen in plantings. Thick skinned and late budding, Bobal wines tend to be dark and chewy with notes of chocolate and dried berries.

Terroir Notes: The 'BB' is from Baix Penedès (Maritime Penedès). Baix Penedès is characterized by a warmer and consistent climate; a low-altitude region next to the Mediterranean sea and beneath the coastal mountain range.

Winemaking Notes: No additives of any kind were used in making this wine. The Bobal was destemmed and macerated for 3 days with the skins before spontaneous, native yeast fermentation. The wine was aged in stainless steel tanks for 8 months before being bottled unfined, unfiltered and without sulfites.

Tasting Notes: This is pure, natural Bobal! Fresh, bright and highly gulpable. Serve with a chill.
