Terroir Notes: Cerasuolo di Vittoria Classico is a subzone of Cerasuolo di Vittoria and can only be produced in these communes, which are all in the province of Ragusa: Acate, Comiso, Chiaramonte Gulfi, Vittoria. This Classico subzone refers to the more historical and thus older production zone. Also, the Cerasuolo di Vittoria Classico wines have a longer minimum aging requirement, 18 months vs. 8 months, before release onto the market. The coastal Sicilian appellation enjoys a warm Mediterranean climate with cooling breezes from the sea.

Reviews

  • Vinous
    Rating: 90 (9/14/2023)

The 2020 Cerasuolo di Vittoria Classico is youthfully coy with nuanced violet and rose tones complementing crushed blackberries. This sweeps easily across the palate, soft and perfumed with pretty red fruits and inner florals that swirl throughout. It leaves a citrus and herbal tea tension in its wake, finishing lightly structured and with medium length.

  • The Wine Advocate
    Rating: 93 (6/22/2023)

An organic blend of 60% Nero d'Avola and 40% Frappato, the 2020 Cerasuolo di Vittoria Classico has a wild side with punchy aromas of cherry, cola, crushed stone and mountain herb. These elements come together seamlessly, giving this wine a good sense of vertical lift and energy. This is a benchmark expression of this Sicilian appellation.
