Tasting Notes: This bright, round, and tannic red represents the impossible: an excellent California Pinot Noir at an affordable price. Aged in 33% new French oak for 12 months to enhance notes of sweet spice, this full-bodied, 100% Pinot Noir pairs nicely with pork, poultry and cheeses.

About the Label: This red takes its name from the great Moby Dick quote: "For there is no folly of the beast of the earth that is not infinitely outdone by the madness of men." It’s Amass' mission -- madness, if you will -- to consistently deliver great Pinot at an affordable price. To create this white whale of the wine world, Amass went to California’s Central Coast. The foggy mornings and cool evenings have a favorable effect on the Pinot Noir.

    (Editors' Choice) Winemaker Ryan Zotovich makes a lot of this wine for national distribution, but does so in boutique ways, and it shows. Black cherry, herb and brown spice aromas kick off the nose, leading into a palate that's sprinkled with chalky tannins and loaded in red plum and orange rind flavors.
