Tasting Notes: This Ciliegiolo has all the polish and elegance in which Mastrojanni is known, but displays a freshness and liveliness that is typical of the grape. The barrel aging creates an opulent, soft entry with sweet tannins that accompany a depth and sapidity typical of the grape variety and the soils in which it is born. Pair the delightful Mastrojanni Ciliegiolo with pasta, roasted white meats and cold cuts...or just drink on its own!

"The Mastrojanni 2019 Ciliegiolo is perfumed and bright with bold cherry aromas (after which this grape gets its name), wild rose, grilled herb and bitter almond."

"The 2019 Ciliegiolo is deep and intense with black raspberries and wild herbs giving way to wet stone. It’s silky-smooth and pleasantly sweet with ripe cherries laced with mint and spice, as fine tannins and a salty, silted minerality settles in. This becomes savory through the finale, almost smoky, like dried meats and grilled herbs. It’s a roller-coaster of sensations and flavors. The Ciliegiolo is refined in a combination of 50% concrete and 50% oak."

A fruity version, offering cherry and berry flavors accented by Tuscan scrub. This red has an effortless feel, backed by a line of firm tannins, with fine length. Drink now through 2024.

Here's a fun and playful expression of a Tuscan grape that you don't often see fermented on its own as a monovarietal wine. The Mastrojanni 2018 Ciliegiolo is bright and punchy with a fruit-forward bouquet that prioritizes wild cherry, raspberry and pungent red rose. This vintage delivers a 15% alcohol content that drives its momentum and power, although the wine finishes with a lean and simple mouthfeel. I would suggest pairing this versatile wine with a cheese- or cream-heavy dish.
