This pure Nerello Mascalese comes from Frank's cru in contrada Monte Colla. Extremely steep and terraced, this vineyard is beautifully exposed to sun and wind and right in front of Mt Etna. The sandy clay soil and the old-vine Nerello Mascalese, planted in 1946, produces a rich and powerful wine, maintaining elegance. Our “Hermitage” of Etna.
Appellation Notes: Some of Frank's vineyards are too high in elevation for the Etna DOP, so he uses the Terre Siciliane IGT for the sake of uniformity.
Average Vine Age: 70+ years
Winemaking Notes: Grapes were destemmed and lightly crushed before a 60-day skin fermentation with wild yeast in neutral epoxy tanks. Wine was not fined. It was filtered before bottling with cartridges of 5 micron. No sulfites were added.
Tasting Notes: The Munjebel MC opens with rich notes of violet, roses and red fruit compote. It is texturally rich with fresh acidity.

"Aromas and flavors of fresh herbs, quinine, anise and red/black cherry. Rich and round yet lively in the mouth with a long tactile finish boasting suave tannins and a hint of sweetness. The MC on the label stands for Monte Colla in the Bronte township where arguably the world’s best pistachios grow."
