Winemaking Notes: This Chardonnay hails from the Santa Cruz Mountains, which is defined by a mountainous, maritime climate. The vineyards that produced this 2016 vintage were farmed using organic and biodynamic methods. The grapes were whole cluster pressed and barrel fermented using native yeast for primary and malolactic fermentation. Aging included 10 months in French oak, 20% new and an additional 5 months in tank.

Tasting Notes: Aromas of pear, pastry cream, subtle spice and blanched almonds introduce the lovely 2016 Chardonnay from Thomas Fogarty. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and flavorful and built around bright acids but also cut from more giving cloth than the more structured, taut vineyard-designate bottling. The finish is long and pure. Enjoy this in its youth or for the better part of a decade.

The 2016 Chardonnay Santa Cruz Mountains Estate is a great introduction to the quality of this up and coming estate. It has a classic yet approachable style in its orchard fruits, white flowers, and subtle toasty, brioche-scented aromas and flavors. It’s rounded, nicely textured, balanced, and loaded with character.

Fogarty's 2016 Chardonnay Estate is pliant, supple and inviting. Apricot, hazelnut, candied lemon peel are all woven together in this soft, open-knit Chardonnay, This is an especially succulent style for the appellation. An infusion of lightly tropical notes adds complexity on the finish.
