Vineyard Notes: Between 480 and 550 meters, the Istine Vineyard is one of the highest vineyards in Chianti. This 5-hectare vineyard was planted in 2002 and is completely isolated by woods.

Winemaking Notes: The wine is aged in large Slavian oak with minimal intervention.

Tasting Notes: Vigna Istine shows raspberry and cherry on the nose. The palate is bright and fresh with nice acidity balanced by the red fruit flavors. This is more elegant than Vigna Cavarchione. Simply stunning!

94pts (2016 Vintage) Wine Spectator 12/31/2019
"Pure and elegant, with cherry, currant and violet notes fused to a backbone of acidity and tannins. Shows fine balance, as a lingering aftertaste of fruit, graphite and underbrush completes the profile. Best from 2022 through 2040."

Iris, violet, perfumed berry, pine forest and aromatic herb aromas come into play on this fragrant red. The fresh, savory palate offers juicy Morello cherry, ripe blackberry, clove and star anise set against precise tannins and fresh acidity. It's well balanced and youthfully taut but will be even better in another few years.

    Rating: 90 (10/31/2017)

The 2015 Chianti Classico Vigna Istine is a simple red wine with a healthy dose of primary fruit to keep it fresh and bright. There is cherry, blackberry, dark spice and barbecue smoke. The overall presentation is classic and correct. Those higher altitudes and cooler temperatures of Radda in Chianti add to the sharpness and focus of the wine. Only 2,600 bottles were produced.
