Domaine Mikael Boutin is the work of Mikael Boutin, a native of Rasteau who began his career as a mechanic before turning to wine. After years serving as chief winemaker for a larger estate, he gradually transitioned to farming and vinifying his own small holdings, focusing on authentic expressions of Rasteau from organically farmed vineyards.

Mikael's approach is rooted in careful observation and intuition. He spends his time in the vineyard, closely monitoring the vines, leaves, soils, and fruit, allowing nature to guide decisions on pruning, treatments, and harvest dates. A traditionalist at heart, he relies on experience and instinct rather than consultants, crafting wines with minimal intervention and a strong sense of place.

Working with just two hectares of certified organic vines, Mikael produces Rasteau wines that stand apart for their freshness, purity, and mineral character. Rather than emphasizing power or extraction, his wines showcase balance, vibrant fruit, and a clear reflection of each vintage.

The winery itself mirrors this philosophy. Housed in a modest building barely larger than a two-car garage, the cellar is remarkably simple, equipped with only a handful of concrete tanks and a small manually operated basket press. The intimate scale of the operation allows Mikael to focus entirely on quality and authenticity.

In a region often dominated by larger producers, Domaine Mikael Boutin offers a compelling reminder that some of the Southern Rhône's most expressive wines come from the smallest and most dedicated growers.
