Yahiko Shuzu (720 ml) 'Aikoku' Junmai Ginjyo, Niigata Prefecture Login

Founded in 1838 in Niigata Prefecture, Yahiko Shuzo has spent nearly two centuries crafting sake at the foot of Mt. Yahiko, one of the Echigo region’s most revered landmarks. In 1848, the brewery’s founder established the distinctive Izumi-ryu brewing method, named for the pure spring waters flowing from the mountain. At the time, the technique was revolutionary, producing sake that was elegant, pale in color, and of long-lasting quality.

The brewery continues to draw on the underground waters of Mt. Yahiko, creating sake that reflects the clarity and purity of its source. Located near the historic Yahiko Shrine, founded in 759 AD, Yahiko Shuzo also serves as the shrine’s supplier of sacred ceremonial sake, underscoring its deep connection to the region’s cultural and spiritual heritage.

While the world of sake continues to evolve, Yahiko Shuzo remains committed to preserving the Izumi-ryu tradition. Guided by generations of craftsmanship and respect for place, the brewery produces sake that honors both its history and the natural blessings of Yahiko.
