Villa Sant'Anna 2021 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG Login In Stock

Villa Sant’Anna is a historic estate located in the southern Tuscan hilltop village of Abbadia di Montepulciano. Owned and operated by Simona Ruggeri and her daughters, Anna and Margherita, the winery is defined by its multigenerational, all-female leadership and a deep commitment to expressing the character of Montepulciano through its wines.

The estate dates back to the 1800s and was once part of a vast property owned by the maternal family of Simona Ruggeri Fabroni for nearly two centuries. Its modern identity, however, is the result of a focused revival led by Simona and her daughters, whose work has established Villa Sant’Anna as a respected reference point for quality winemaking in the region.

The property extends across the rolling hills surrounding Montepulciano, an area long recognized for producing some of Tuscany’s most compelling wines. While the azienda historically focused on fruits and vegetables, approximately 10 hectares of prime hillside vineyards are now dedicated to cultivating traditional Tuscan grape varieties.

Until 1989, the estate’s wines were sold in bulk. That year marked a turning point, as the Ruggeri family began bottling their own wines, investing in high-quality botti from Gamba to age their Chianti Colli Senesi, first released with the 1990 vintage. This evolution continued with the acquisition of prime vineyard parcels within the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano appellation. By 1993, Villa Sant’Anna produced its first Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, followed by the addition of Rosso di Montepulciano in 1999.

A cornerstone of the estate’s identity is its Vin Santo, the most rare and treasured wine in the portfolio. Produced consistently over generations, it was historically reserved for family use and special occasions.

All grapes are harvested by hand, and the vineyards are farmed with care and respect for the environment by a small, dedicated team that has worked alongside the Ruggeri-Fabroni family for many years. Across the portfolio, the focus remains on translating the uniqueness of the territory into wines of precision, authenticity, and enduring quality.
