Vineyard Notes: In 1858, Emil Dresel brought the first Riesling cuttings to America and planted them on what is now the Scribe Estate in Sonoma, California. In homage, Scribe planted two acres in 2007 on the southwest facing slope of Arrowhead Mountain with an additional expansion in 2016, which brought their total acreage just shy of four acres. Their sustainably farmed Riesling is planted to clones Neustadt 90, 110 and 17 on St. George and SO4 rootstock on soils composed of both volcanic tuff and Huichica loam.

Vintage Notes: A warm winter with below average rainfall and a cool start to spring kept the vines dormant late into March. Spring remained cool and brought moderate amounts of rain all the way to Memorial Day, keeping shoot growth fairly slow until early June. Mild summer weather contributed to slow fruit development until warmer August temperatures prevailed, pushing grapes to maturity quickly. Harvest began on August 9th with favorable, temperate weather throughout the picking season.

Winemaking Notes: The grapes were harvested by hand from four blocks between September 2nd and September 15th. The juice was pressed and settled for 24 hours before being racked off the gross lees. They separated the wine into five lots - one to ferment in concrete and the others in stainless steel tanks. All lots fermented cold for 17 to 22 days without undergoing malolactic fermentation. The wine aged for 5 months in concrete and stainless steel tanks prior to bottling.

Tasting Notes: Jasmine, sea salt, nectarine
