Grown on calcareous soils, the Pinot Gris Calx (named for limestone) from Weingut Mann has intense aromas—in the nose, you literally jump into fruit and herb nuances—making this a great orange Pinot Gris.

Winemaking Notes: Half direct press and the other half macerated for two weeks during indigenous yeast fermentation. Then the wine aged 25% in stainless steel, 25% in a large wooden barrel, and 50% in old small wooden barrels. It was bottled unfined and without added sulfites.

Tasting Notes: Calx has a beautiful grapefruit-like color and is wonderfully cloudy in the glass. Full and intense aromas of apples, strawberry candies, citrus, blood orange and limestone. The palate is complex, fresh, and refined: blood orange, peach, strawberries, grapefruit, and a mineral aftertaste.
