Tasting Notes: If there was one Vespolina to rule them all, Favolalunga would be it. It is an exceptional example of the grape variety. Favolalunga means "long fable" and refers to the fact that a good wine also has a long history. This wine is bold yet silky. It’s the perfect mid-weight wine with a body that isn’t exactly structured, but also not loose. The balance is just right; similar to Goldilocks’ taste preferences.
Terroir Notes: Vespolina is native to Piedmont. It is an important grape in Alto Piemonte, though it is usually blended with Nebbiolo and Croatina. The Vespolina vine likes warmer areas, so it grows well in the Fara DOC. A high percentage of Giberto's plantings are on sand, which yields less tannins.
Winemaking Notes: The fruit is manually harvested during the last week of September. Grapes are destemmed and gently mashed. Fermentation, including malolactic, occurs in stainless steel tanks. The wine matures in stainless steel for 6 months, with an additional 4 months in bottle. It is not fined but undergoes coarse filtration prior to bottling.
