"This mouthwatering rosé from Sicily is zippy with notes of cherries and raspberries. It’s a serious wine."

"The 2021 Rosato sports a deep cherry color in the glass. It slowly blossoms, gaining depth and richness with each swirl. It wafts up with notes of crushed strawberry, mint leaf and wet stone, yet adding autumnal spice and nuances of lavender with time. It's soft-textured, yet quickly gains in tension, as brisk acids combine with sour citrus and saline-minerals, all offset by pretty inner rose tones. Hints of wild strawberry, waxy licorice and hard candies linger through the potently long finale."

    Rating: 92 (6/3/2021)

The bright, translucent cherry color of Bonavita's Rosato is always the first thing to stand out, and the 2020 is no different. Yet what comes next seals the deal, as an absolutely stunning bouquet emerges, mixing spritzes of lime and tangerine with mint leaf, crushed stone and flowery undergrowth. This impresses further with silk textures that flesh out across the palate, pliant and packed full of ripe berry and melon tones, yet the impression isn't one of sweetness, as savory herbs come forward toward the close. It's persistent, staining the senses with purple-tinged florals, licorice and hints of hard red candies, but also remarkably fresh and teeming with energy. This blend of Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio and Nocera is easily one of the top Rosato of the 2020 vintage.

    Rating: 89 (11/18/2021)

A traditional blend of 60% Nerello Mascalese, 30% Nerello Cappuccio and 10% Nocera, the Bonavita 2020 Rosato opens to a dark pink or raspberry color, with sweet aromas of wild cherry and cassis. There is an unusual and exotic side to the wine as well, with dried mint, pressed violets, anise seed and cumin. This is a more structured and concentrated Sicilian rosé that could pair with white meat or baked fish. Production for this out-of-the-ordinary wine is 6,000 bottles.
