Vineyard Notes: Grapes for the Zorzal Terroir Unico Pinot Noir are sourced from a single vineyard in the Gualtallary region of the Tupungato Valley. The vineyard is located at 4,264 feet above sea level and was planted in 2007. It is comprised of sand, chalk and stones.

Winemaking Notes: Grapes are manually harvested. The winery is renowned for having state-of-the-art technology in crushing, fermentation and aging. The winery was designed on four levels in order to transport the grapes and wines by gravity without the use of pumps. Malolactic fermentation occurs, and the wine is aged in bottle for 5 months. This wine does not see any oak; this is done to let the fruit-driven quality of the wine shine. Only indigenous yeast are used.

Tasting Notes: Bright red fruits, predominantly raspberry, jump out of the glass with gamey notes, cola, dried leaves, and forest floor. The mouthfeel is rich, soft, and supple with light tannins and medium acidity. The chalky soil comes through in the long finish. This is great with or without food.

Inviting spicy lift to the aromas of cherry, raspberry, cardamom and loam. A classic red-fruit-and-spice style of Pinot Noir with a fairly soft texture and harmonious juicy acidity for support. Finishes with very gentle tannins and a light touch. This doesn't have the complexity or depth for 90 points but it's more pristine than some past vintages.

The floral and perfumed 2018 Terroir Único Pinot Noir is a great expression of the grape with intense flavors, great clarity and precision and a clean, long and tasty finish. All of these wines have moderate alcohol, very good freshness and a medium body, which is like saying they are super drinkable. This 2018 has to be one of the finest vintages for this bottling. It is a great value.
