Vineyard Notes: Lifelong viticulturist, Rodri Mendez extracts single vineyard selections, old vines, coastal vines and red varieties in the subzone Val do Salnes. This subzone lives within Rías Baixas which is tucked into the green rolling hills of the northwest corner of Spain, just above Portugal, hugging the deep blue Atlantic coastline. These vines were planted in 1862!

Winemaking Notes: Whole cluster fermented and then aged for 12 months in French oak barrels.

Tasting Notes: The wine is nicely coated by juicy fruit and the mineral core is evident. This is a truly outstanding, elegant, cool climate red. Really amazing: super aromatic, super intense, super complex, super mineral, super everything!

The 2020 Finca Genoveva Caíño is very different from the rest of the Caíño reds; in this case, it's closer to a Cabernet Franc, with explosive peppery aromas and a balsamic twist (even bay leaf, moss...), very complex and ever-changing in the glass. This is elegant, perfumed, aromatic and precise. This has to be the finest Genoveva Caíño to date. Bravo! It has a moderate 12% alcohol and great balance with very fine tannins. It matured in a seven-year-old 1,500-liter oak foudre for 24 months.
