Trebbiano Spoletino: Trebbiano Spoletino is an ancient grape varietal, once common in the area between Montefalco, Spoleto and Trevi. In recent years it's full potential has been rediscovered, showing versatility in relation to different vinification techniques.

Vineyard Notese: Made from 100% Trebbiano Spoletino, the fruit for the 'Anteprima Tonda' is picked by hand from massale selection of old vines, grown according to the vine training system between maple trees. The vineyard sits on top of a hill with western exposure.

Winemaking Notes: Fermentation occurs spontaneously with native yeast in ceramic amphora without temperature control. This wine's long skin maceration expresses it's terroir in a natural way. The 'Anteprima Tonda' is aged in old oak casks.

The 2016 Spoleto Trebbiano Spoletino Anteprima Tonda is a special wine made in reduced quantities (with just 3,000 bottles released). Interestingly, the grapes are fermented in a combination of terracotta and clay containers for three months without the use of commercial yeasts. The wine does undergo malolactic fermentation and is racked back into the clay vessels for an additional nine months of aging. What you get is a mid-bodied white with some firmness in terms of texture, followed by generous tones of poached pear and sun-dried apricot. This wine has the natural heft and fiber to pair with white meat or buttered crawfish.
