In Condrieu, Rostaing holds a tiny parcel in Côte Bonnette that yields some of the region’s most refined Viognier. The Viognier ferments and ages in stainless steel tank. Malolactic fermentation does not occur. It is bottled without fining or filtering. It is a rich, powerful wine with a scent of lychees, passion fruits and white flowers. It has a lovely mineral character and great fruit definition, traits that often distinguish it from its peers.

Vintage Notes: 2017 is the third successive “great” vintage in an appellation that was once lucky to have 2 top vintages per decade.

Vineyard Notes: Rostaing practices lutte raisonnée in the vineyard.

92pts (2018 Vintage) Jeb Dunnuck 12/12/2019
"A wine you don’t see often enough, the 2018 Condrieu La Bonnette is terrific, with a medium-bodied, seamless texture as well as textbook Condrieu notes of tangerine, citrus zest, brioche, and white flowers. It has plenty of freshness, yet shows the soft, plush style of the vintage. Drink it over the coming 2-3 years."

The 2017 Condrieu Bonnett is brilliant stuff, and one of the fresher, crisper Condrieu in the vintage. White peach, citrus zest, and vibrant floral notes all emerge from this medium-bodied, bright, juicy effort that still has plenty of sweet Viognier fruit and texture. It’s going to keep for 3-5 years.

Plump and friendly, with peach, nectarine, almond and white ginger notes laced up with a jasmine thread on the fleshy but fresh finish. Drink now through 2023.
