Winemaking Notes: The grapes for this wine are harvested by hand. The grapes undergo soft pressing and are fermented with indigenous yeast at controlled temperature. Wine spends five months in stainless steel. Toasted seeds are used to give the wine a bit more structure. It matures in bottle for three months.

Tasting Notes: Soft tannins with aromas of cinnamon and dried cherry; bright acidity and a note of minerality. A more or less intense ruby red tending toward burgundy with aging, the Piedirosso Wine’s  fragrance is intense and characteristic.

Food Pairing: Pork, pasta, lentil soup; Try Ham Hock and Lentil Soup

About Campania: Hugging the Mediterranean Sea in the south west of Italy, this picturesque region is home to Pompeii, Mt. Vesuvius, Naples, and pizza. It is also the site of some of the most renowned ancient wines of Italy: Surrentine, Massic, and Falernian. Campania’s volcanic soil, warm sun, and oceanic breezes make for ripe and complex wines with appealing minerality. It also boasts an interesting host of local wine varieties, such as Aglianico, Piedirosso, Falanghina, Primitivo, Fiano, and Greco Bianco.

"Dark bright red. Piedirosso-typical herbaceous notes greet the nose, but aeration brings bright strawberry and red cherry aromas too. Clean and fresh in the mouth, with juicy, precise strawberry and raspberry flavors that build and linger long on the suave aftertaste. A benchmark Piedirosso wine."
