Taking inspiration from the fresh and lively Nouveau wines of Beaujolais, France, Scribe's first experimental vintage was bottled in 2014, substituting the traditional Burgundian Gamay with their Pinot Noir grapes. Beaujolais Nouveau is traditionally released the third Thursday of November, and has become synonymous with Thanksgiving, holiday festivities and celebratory times.
Vineyard Notes: Just one mile from the Scribe Estate, this vineyard is planted in equal parts Martini and Pommard clones. The Huichica loam soil and cool Carneros climate ripen the fruit at a steady, gradual pace.
2019 Vintage Notes: Northern California experienced another cool and wet winter which kept the vines dormant through March and early April. The spring time brought a mix of heat spells followed by cool and wet weather. Harvest started off off with Rose of Pinot Noir in mid August.
Winemaking Notes: Pinot Noir fruit was manually harvested from Scribe's Carneros vineyard. The Nouveau underwent a 9-day, 100% whole cluster carbonic maceration powered by native yeast. The wine was bottled unfined, unfiltered and without sulfur.
Tasting Notes: Notes of raspberry, green tea and wild strawberry.
