About this Wine: At their finest, the wines of Sainte Croix du Mont can rival the great dessert wines of Sauternes and Barsac, which are directly opposite the river from Sainte Croix du Mont. Over the past decades, the Armand family has invested great effort to prove the worth of this appellation.
Winemaking Notes: Semillon is the exclusive grape in this cuvée. Seeking extreme ripeness, the harvest is done entirely by hand and proceeds in successive passes over a series of weeks. Fermentation occurs with indigenous yeast over a three to six week period at controlled temperatures. The Traditionnel is then aged for a minimum of 18 months, 50% in tanks, and 50% in barrels. The wine is not fined and is only lightly filtered, left to age in bottle for at least 6 months before release. It is frequently blessed with significant levels of botrytis and exhibits a high level of concentration and complexity.
Tasting Notes: Golden in color, a traditional Semillon sweet desert wine.
