Chateau Montauriol Rigaud
The estate is located in the lieu dit of Montauriol which is a south facing slope and plateau under the Boutenac national forest overlooking the town of Thézan Les Corbières.
Bernard Rigaud aims to make wines that are a benchmark for Corbières. He has just 5ha of sun-soaked vineyards in the hills above Thézan. The meticulously tended vines are mostly ancient and low-yielding Carignan with a little Syrah. The soil is composed of iron rich red limestone with very little organic matter and surrounded by garrigue (pine, rosemary, thyme & nettles).
