Quinta Da Muradella 2008 Alanda Blanco
Rating: 92

The white wines begin with the 2008 Alanda Blanco made from a blend of 34% Godello, 33% Dona Blanca, and 33% Treixadura with the grapes sourced from all 3 districts of Monterrei. It was fermented and raised in stainless steel with no malolactic fermentation. Medium straw-colored, it displays an enticing aromatic array of minerals, spring flowers, melon, citrus, and fennel. On the palate it has outstanding volume, lots of flavor, vibrant acidity, and a lengthy, refreshing finish.

Quinta Da Muradella 2007 Alanda
Rating: 92

The 2007 Alanda, a blend of 65% Mencia, 30% Basrtardo, and 5% Tinta Fina sourced from all 3 districts of Monterrei. The wine was aged for 13 months in seasoned French oak. Medium ruby-colored, it surrenders a complex bouquet of mineral, Asian spices, incense, black cherry, and black raspberry. Elegant, concentrated, savory, and impeccably balanced, this lengthy offering personifies finesse. It should provide mush pleasure over the next 8-10 years.

Quinta Da Muradella 2006 Bastardo
Rating: 92

Dark red. Sexy aromas of black raspberry, rose, violet and allspice. Tangy, sharply focused red and dark berry flavors are complemented by notes of brown spices and cherry skin. This already complex wine finishes with excellent lift and mineral precision.

Quinta Da Muradella 2006 Gorvia Blanco (Single vineyard)
Rating: 91

Pale gold. Peach skin, pear and lime zest aromas are complemented by notes of quinine and dusty minerals. Spicy, finely etched citrus and orchard fruit flavors gain sweetness and energy with air and pick up a subtle anise quality. Finishes firm, spicy and dry, with a strong echo of pear and peach. No excess fat on this one.

Quinta Da Muradella 2007 Alanda (Mencia/ Bastardo/ Tinta Fina)
Rating: 91

(2006 Vintage) The 2006 Alanda is a blend of Mencia, Bastardo, and Tinta Fina from several different parcels which spent 13 months in French oak. It too has a splendid bouquet marked by mineral, chocolate covered cherries, and black raspberry. Ripe, concentrated, long, and pure, this singular expression need to be tasted for its uniqueness alone. Sadly, only 40 cases will make it to the USA market. Quinta Da Muradella 2006 Gorvia Blanco (Single vineyard)
Rating: 92

The 2006 Gorvia Blanco is 100% Dona Blanca, an grape indigenous to the region. It was aged for eight months in seasoned 500-liter French oak. Light straw-colored, it delivers an alluring nose of mineral, mango, pineapple, and spring flowers that jumps from the glass. Viscous, full-flavored, and intense, this stunning effort may well evolve but, of course, it has no track record. Quinta da Muradella is where star vigneron Raul Perez makes his A Trabe wines. Quinta Da Muradella 2006 Gorvia Tinto (Single Vineyard)
Rating: 92

The 2005 Gorvia Red, sourced from the same vineyard, is composed of 90% Mencia, 5% Bastardo, and 5% Caino Redondo aged for 14 months in French oak. This unique offering is exceptionally perfumed with aromas of rose petals, cherry blossom, raspberry, and spice box. Elegant and silky on the palate, it has a Pinot Noir-like texture, layers of sweet fruit, and vibrant acidity. This lengthy wine is likely to drink well for 8-10 years. Quinta Da Muradella 2006 Bastardo
Rating: 94

The 2006 Bastardo spent 14 months in French oak. It is medium ruby-colored with kinky aromas of underbrush, mineral, wild cherry and black raspberry. Elegant, velvety textured, and complex on the palate, this impeccably balanced wine will drink well for 6-8 years. Unfortunately, there is not much of this singular wine to go around.
