Heya Wines was started by two mothers, Claudine and Michelle, who share a passion for natural wine and ancestral winemaking techniques. The name 'Heya' means 'She' in Arabic and is a representation and appreciation of women who work hard in a male-dominated industry to produce something they love.

Claudine and Michelle were originally neighbors, and in a short amount of time became close friends, like sisters. They bonded over their love of being in nature, and whenever there was work to be done on the land, they would both head into the mountains to get the job done - doing harvests, pruning and whatever else was needed.

They were both helping with winemaking and vineyard work at Mersel Wines, and started making some small batches of their own wine to share with friends and family. They wanted to learn more about the flavor profiles of different grapes and wanted to put theory into action. After a few years, they were encouraged by their friends, and Eddie Chami of Mersel, to make wine to sell and so Heya Wines was officially born.

Claudine and Michelle do everything themselves, down to hand labelling the bottles and boxing their wines. Their labels are also images they took out in the field of the women they work with. It is their intention to use Heya Wines to give opportunities and appreciation to the women vineyard workers who they work with in the fields, who work tirelessly in the vineyards and then go home to take care of their families.
