In a market full of commercial limoncello, Valentino Esposito and Mario Anastasio's small label, Il Gusto di Amalfi, represents the purest expression of southern Italy's spectacular citrus fruit. Their small facility, which looks like a large kitchen, is in the little town of Praiano, just down the coast from Positano. The surrounding area is famous for growing spectacular citrus, especially lemons and mandarine oranges, on the hillside terraces overlooking the Amalfi Coast.

While most fine wines and spirits attribute their greatness to the balance of several components, limoncello and mandarino liqueurs are a pure infusion of the peel, and the quality depends entirely on the fruit. Valentino and Mario thoughtfully source their citrus from organically-farmed groves that are owned and tended to by friends and family, and peel all the fruit by hand with potato-peelers. The resulting artisanal liqueurs are delicious served on their own with a chill, or in a citrus-driven cocktail.
